Sending Keys

From the Contacts Tab , start by selecting one or more contacts to whom you wish to send a key. 

Then click the Send Key button , to initiate sending of a key.  The Key Transfer window will open.

 

 

In this window,

  1. select the key to send,
  2. enter a password that the recipients will be required to enter, in order to receive the key,
  3. click the Send button  .

 

This window will change to the "in-progress" mode, while you wait for the first recipient to accept the transfer.

 

 

 

Select Key to Send 

Select the key to send to the Contacts you selected.  The key will be securely sent to each recipient, in turn.

 

After the Send button has been clicked, this field can not be changed.

Passsword

Enter a password that the recipients will be required to enter, in order to receive the key.

 

After the Send button has been clicked, this field can not be changed.

Send - after selecting the key to be sent, and entering a password, click this button to begin the transfer.

Cancel - at any time, before or during the transfer, click this button to cancel the transfer.  The Key Transfer window will immediately be closed, and the transfer will be aborted.

Sending to

This field shows the current recipient.  Since multiple contacts may have been selected to be sent the key, the name shown will change as the transfer to each contact is initiated.

Progress

For each recipient, this field will initially report that you are waiting for the recipient to accept the transfer.  Once they have accepted the transfer, this field will show a progress bar, indicating the amount of data that has been transferred

 

When the recipient accepts the Key Transfer, the key is sent from your myKryptofon to theirs, privately and securely, with AES 256-bit encryption. 

 

When the transfer has completed, if you had specified more than one Contact to receive the key, myKryptofon will automatically begin the transfer with the next recipient.  When the key has been sent to all recipients, this window will automatically close.
