VoIP Roundtable – Tuesday, September 16, from 6:30 PM to 9 PM Topic: “Securing VoIP Communications using myKryptofon” Speaker: Peter Rung, IDRank Location and directions: 201 E. You are invited to join us for the first VoIP Roundtable discussion of the academic year on Tuesday, September 16, from 6:30 to 9 PM. Coffee and cookies will be served from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The presentation begins at 7:00 PM. About the topic: Protecting the security and identity of your voice and chat in an age of high volumes of identity theft - from within the United States, from overseas sources, and from internal espionage occurring within organizations - is a daunting task. At stake is regulatory compliance in various industries protecting the privacy and identify of clients and patients, the business and reputation risk associated with data breaches, and the cost associated to the management of a data breach. In recent years, organizations have spent large dollar amounts managing breaches, and in some cases, the direct business impacts of a breach. VoIP provides cost savings and increased the utilization of voice services – integrating voice services into unified communications and vertical solutions – which in turn secure competitive advantages for business. These advantages need to be balanced against the security risks they introduce. This is an important risk challenge for organizations to address. The speaker will present the industry issues I.D. Rank Security sees in the overall data leak prevention industry, with a specific emphasis on VoIP security issues, mitigation techniques and industry products addressing the issues. He will provide a demonstration of the product in use by the U.S. military in war theater, show how the product is being used in action, and how it provides a high level of security for voice, chat and file transfer.
